Danielle gave an AIChE Area 08A Plenary Lecture at the 2022 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Meeting. Thanks Shudipto Dishari, Michelle Calabrese, and Siamek Nejati for featuring our work on sequence effects in calcium-responsive biopolymers!

Winnie was selected for the 2022 Future Leaders in ChemE Symposium at North Carolina State University! Congratulations!

Mike was selected as a speaker for the Colloidal, Macromolecular, and Polyelectrolyte Solutions Gordon Research Seminar! He will share his recent studies of “Gelation Dynamics during Photocrosslinking of Polymer Nanocomposite Hydrogels.”

The group welcomes the new cohort of ChemE Ph.D. students! We are excited to host rotations for Philip Onffroy (Autumn, Bucknell University), Alexandra Ramos (Winter, University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez), and Eleanor Quirk (Winter, University of California, San Diego)!

Lisa Nieman and Isabella Tavarez are current Stanford undergraduate students joining us through the Department of Chemical Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU); Peter Musenge is a rising senior at St. Augustine’s University joining us through the School of Engineering’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF); and Ke Jin is a rising senior at Tsinghua University joining us through the School of Engineering’s Chinese Undergraduate Visiting Research (UGVR) Program.

Prof. Mai was recognized with an Inspiring Early Academic Career Award by Stanford’s Faculty Women’s Forum! This award honors pre-tenure faculty members who create a culture of inclusion and belonging for students and trainees at all levels.

Mike Burroughs won a 2022 Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellows Award for his research on “Engineering Biolubrication at the Molecular Scale.” Congratulations Mike!!

Marina, Alana, Louis, and Prof. Mai attended the APS March Meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Congratulations to Marina for giving the group’s first student talk at a conference and to Louis and Alana for wonderful poster presentations!

A warm welcome back to Brendan Wirtz (Chemical Engineering PhD student), who officially joined the lab! He plans to develop recyclable 3D-printing resins in collaboration with the Congreve Lab.

Our latest lab outing was a welcome dinner for our visitors Prof. Yun Jung Yang and Ph.D. students Seo Hyung Moon and Hye Jin Hwang from Inha University in Incheon, South Korea!

Congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Ta-Chung Liu, who is starting a new role as an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
